The First Fri­day of each month we host the work of a local artist here in the store.  For the month of Sep­tem­ber we will be fea­tur­ing local artist, Danielle Rahe Fox. Local chef Kris­ten Ced­erquist of Serendip­ity Spreads will be cater­ing the event with yummy appe­tiz­ers and we will be serv­ing our sig­na­ture drink Stripetinis.

Edu­cated in fine art and influ­enced by her father’s pro­fes­sion as an archi­tect, Danielle Rahe Fox explores form and space rela­tion­ships in her work using

  graphite line, sewn line, and acrylic glazes.   Danielle starts each paint­ing by draw­ing a graphite line ges­ture influ­enced by her obser­va­tions found in nature or the envi­ron­ment around her.  Using acrylic glazes and washes, she lay­ers the paint and inte­grates the sewn line on trac­ing paper into the work. The sewn lines emu­late the express­ing of the graphite lines. The rhythm and move­ment in her works often por­tray her love for dance and music.  

 Danielle received her M.F.A. in Paint­ing from the Acad­emy of Art in San Fran­cisco, CA and her B.S. in Fine Art from Biola Uni­ver­sity in La Mirada, CA.  She has been cre­at­ing works of art for twelve years and exhibits through­out California.  Danielle has taught at the Col­le­giate, High School and Mid­dle School lev­els and has led an art his­tory tour in Italy.   She cur­rently works as a full-time artist in Santa Cruz, CA where her stu­dio is located.  Her work can be found in pri­vate col­lec­tions through­out the United States.
